Ceramics Class

Since 2003 the Ceramic Class has made many projects located here at Memorial Church.  Some of these projects are the Baptism dishes, Christmas gifts and small Communion Goblets for Memorial UMC shut-ins, Communion Goblets and plates, Seder Meal Dishes, Girl Scout badge work and our biggest project is the bowls for Milwaukee Empty Soup Bowls.

The Ceramic class has designed and painted 1573 soup bowls.  At today’s rate of $25 per bowl, our donations total $39,325.  The class is open to all, and meets on Monday evenings from 6:45-9:00 pm.  No previous experience is necessary.

Thank you for your continued support and interest in our Ceramic Class!

Mary Schultz, Class Coordinator

Empty Bowls 2019

Our Ceramic class along with other artists, teachers, and students donate over 2000 bowls to the Milwaukee Empty Bowls event to help raise funds to help feed those in need in the Milwaukee Metro Area.  The bowls are then purchased by the public – each bowl includes soup prepared by local chefs, along with bread, refreshments and entertainment.

This year the Milwaukee Empty Bowl event will be held on Sunday, October 13 from 11 am to 2 pm.  The event is free at MSOE’s Kern Center.  This year’s recipients are:

Street Angels, Inc.

Groundwork Milwaukee

Jewish Community Center

Just One More Ministry

Project Concern of Cudahy

Friedens Community Ministries, Inc.

Milwaukee Empty Bowls has been fundraising since 1999 and as of 2018 has raised $823,630 through donations of soup bowls.  The Ceramic Class has participated in this project for 16 years and with this year's donation of 66 bowls from the Memorial Ceramic class, 14 bowls from friends who joined us from Vega Chapter #76, Order of Eastern Star, 8 bowls from friends who joined us from Bethel #19, Jobs Daughters International and 5 wooden bowls from Mark Dallner, a member here at MUMC , we will donate a total of 93 bowls, which at today’s price of $25.00 totals $2,325.00.
